Family photo

Hey everyone! I’m here with a story about my journeys. So, this time, I had gone to an island country, Bahrain. This country is accessible by road only from Saudi Arabia, through a man-made bridge, the King Fahd’s Causeway.

King Fahd's Causeway

The causeway is a very beautiful structure built on the ocean which connects Al-Khobar and Bahrain. We had checked in to the Juffair Avenue suites in the Juffair area in Bahrain.

After checking-in, we had our lunch, and then we proceeded to an indoor-skydiving complex at Zallaq, Bahrain, named Gravity.

Gravity Indoor Skydiving

There, after entering, we were told to wait until our instructor came to guide us. While waiting, we were looking at other people doing skydiving. They looked freaked out. So, I thought it would be scary. Later, our instructor came and handed us our suits, goggles, shoes and helmets. After we changed into them, she ran us through a video on the basics of indoor skydiving and safety tips. We were clubbed with another family, and then, taken to the tunnel. There, our instructor explained how our bodies should be while flying, and how to enter and exit. We had two rounds of flight, a minute each. When it was my turn, and I went inside, I could feel the intensity and the pressure of the air inside the tunnel. Whoa! That was a lot of force! I felt like I was levitating between two magnets. Being my first time, I wasn’t quite able to balance and tipped over a couple of times.

Later our instructor showed us some tricks and it was as if some special effects were added, just like in movies. She went up at top speed and suddenly stopped. She also flew upside-down and it was a treat to watch her. After our rounds of flying, we were given a nice report card of our flight.

Later, we went to the Lost Paradise of Dilmun waterpark. Once we reached there, we saw that the park was closed and would only open at 4 o’ clock, which was an hour away. Then, our driver suggested that we could visit the beach in the meanwhile. We agreed, and went to the nearest beach. There, in the beach, it was very hot, but the cool water was soothing.

The water was amazingly clear, almost see-through! We spent some time there taking pictures and enjoying the water. Then, when it was time, we went back to the waterpark.

Once we reached there, we were given waterproof wristwatches instead of tickets, so that they could be recharged with money and used inside the park to pay. This meant, there was no problem of wetting the wallet or purse due to the water. Once inside, there was a small café where my parents had coffee and I had some iced cappuccino. That cappuccino could be drunk cold was a revelation for me! We went inside and rented a locker, got changed into swimming clothes and splashed into the pool.

LPOD ride

At first, the water was cold, but I got used to it after a while. After playing for a while in the pool, we proceeded to the wave pool with an artificial beach in it. There my brother got a floater tube and started playing with it. Floaters and life jackets are free there so you need not carry them.

Even when it was time to go to other rides he wasn’t ready to move. After he got bored of it, we went to a water slide which was about 4 stories high. At first, my brother was scared to go in there, but later loved it so much that we went again. The ride was pretty good. They send you down a twisting tube with water splashing at you and it ends in a water pool at the bottom. It was quite fun and then we went to a kids play-pool a little further away. There we saw a ride called lazy pool, where you sit in floating tubes and the slow current moves you around lazily.

I had to push both the tubes because I was the only one who knew how to swim, and it turned out to be tiresome pool instead of lazy pool for me! Later, it started to become dark and the last place we went to, was a water volleyball pool. There I swam to my heart’s content and also played some volleyball. It was an amazing experience and the ambience and lighting was just exceptional, and it is a go-to in Bahrain. The prices were reasonable for all and further discounted for younger kids with height less than 120 cm.

We were all tired and decided to leave, though we had covered only half the park. We changed back to our normal clothes and went to have some snacks. After having snacks, we went to the Bahrain International Karting Circuit. There we registered ourselves and were asked to wait for about half-an-hour. At last when our turn came, we were given racing suits, head protection, helmets and gloves.

We were sent to a briefing room to see a short safety video of do’s and don’ts. They assigned us kart numbers and then we started racing. The lane was long and there was a lot of competition. It was especially hard to take turns in that speed. I even banged to the side once. Finally, when my 15 minutes were over, my knee tendons were aching. It was one of the best experiences in my life to see my name flashing on the bulletin board showing my position. It was amazing and the sight will surely make you awe in wonder. The prices too were reasonable there. My brother, who was the youngest amonst us, could also confidently finish a couple of laps though the competition were elder to him. I was extremely happy to ride on a track on which once Lewis Hamilton had driven. I seriously fell in love with karting after driving here, and felt like I wanted to be a racer when I grow up. Later we took some photos of the track.

Me with track

Exhausted, we quickly returned to our hotel, ordered food and slept peacefully.

The next day, we decided to go to the Royal Camel Farm. There were many camels being raised there for many activities like racing, safari, milk etcetera.

Camels @ farm

This is a huge camel farm and worth a stop. We were very fortunate to have one of the farm workers visit and talk with us. He let us meet and pet a months old baby camel and feed the friendly adult ones.

One of them was very friendly and always behind us. We also saw plantations of date palm and sunflower there. The farm was well maintained and kept spacious and odourless. The best thing is that it is free.

Closure

Later, we decided to go to the Bahrain City Centre Mall. We went there in hope of getting something to eat. But were dissapointed that the restaurants and food courts were closed as it was Ramadan time. We waited and waited till it was about 6 pm and ordered food. We were only allowed to start eating at 6:30 pm. After having food, we went to our hotel and took our luggage and started back to Saudi Arabia. We reached home at about 9:30 pm.

But that's not all my friends, there are a ton of places where kids can enjoy in Bahrain, which I had already seen when I had been here the first time. The places I covered were Wahoo! Waterpark in the City Centre, Ferrari World Bahrain, ISKON Temple, Saravana Bhavan, Al-Areen Wildlife park, The Dolphin Resort Bahrain and quadbiking in the the Jazaer Beach. Also there are places left which I am planning to visit in a future trip. I hope to cover Scubalife Dive Centre WLL, Amwaj islands and the Al Dar Islands which also are great places to see in Bahrain.

That was one of my journeys dear friends. Be tuned in for more and thank you for visiting my website. Please share your opinions too!!!

A debt of gratitude to:

1. The Juffair Avenue Suites management and staff for allowing us early check-in and late check-out.

2. Abid Bhai for taking us around and also bearing all our mischiefs.

3. My lovely brother for entertaining us throughout the trip.

4. My parents for taking us to Bahrain.
